Extreme Weather Alert

Police Deploy for Severe Weather, Floods

Heavy rainfall expected from Saturday night through Sunday morning, with flooding anticipated along coastal areas and lowlands

Israeli Police

Israeli security forces are preparing for severe weather conditions expected to begin Saturday night and continue through Sunday morning. Meteorological forecasts predict intense localized rainfall, particularly in northern Israel, coastal regions, and the lowlands, with significant concern about localized flooding especially near the coastal strip.

Police officers will be deployed in relevant areas to assist motorists and maintain road safety on highways and major thoroughfares. The Israel Police emphasized they will provide ongoing updates regarding road closures and traffic disruptions, and are advising the public to avoid areas where weather-related hazards are anticipated and to stay informed through weather forecasts.

Authorities are also urging the public to exercise extreme caution and to stay away from areas at risk of flash flooding due to the dangers of falling, being swept away, or drowning.

The Traffic Division has issued the following safety guidelines for the public:

The public is advised to forgo non-essential travel or hiking in streams and flood-prone areas that may become inundated. Before heading out for outdoor activities, contact authorized authorities to obtain vital and current information. There is an absolute prohibition against crossing flooded roads, water channels, puddles, and water pits with any vehicle, and against approaching them—this constitutes a life-threatening danger. Hikers are requested not to enter life-threatening areas.

Information about changes in traffic arrangements can be obtained through the national police information center at 110, via chatbot, and through the Traffic Division's Telegram channel. For any emergency situation requiring immediate intervention, contact the emergency hotline at 100 without delay.
