Jewish New Yorkers disapprove of Mayor Zohran Mamdani 66 percent to 26 percent, and 75 percent of them don't agree with the Democratic Socialists of America compared to 17 percent who approve of it, according to a new Siena University poll of 811 likely gubernatorial voters in New York.
The poll, conducted between August 3 and 6, found that more than half of Jewish voters, 51 percent, said the state is headed in the wrong direction. Jews made up 8 percent of those polled, or 64 to 65 respondents.
Non-Jewish voters were more positive about the mayor, with 67 percent approving and 28 percent disapproving of Mamdani's actions. Nearly three in four Jewish voters said they believe Mamdani's views are outside the Democratic mainstream.
Jewish Democrats increasingly feel out of place in their party amid a rise in antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiment on the far left, which has gained traction in recent state and congressional elections.
