Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has continued Tehran's mocking tone toward the United States and President Donald Trump, taking aim at American intelligence assessments regarding both military operations and alleged Iranian assassination plots.
In a statement dripping with sarcasm, Araghchi suggested U.S. intelligence failures have led to strategic errors. "The United States has been wrong for a long time due to intelligence failures. An example of this: the war in Iran. Now, an even bigger miscalculation, also in the Strait of Hormuz," he said. The foreign minister added pointedly: "Worse than fake news is fake intelligence. Be careful."
His remarks come after reports indicated that intelligence warnings of a potential Iranian assassination attempt against Trump, which prompted extraordinary security precautions including the president traveling on a separate aircraft, were considered unreliable by some American analysts, though protective measures were still implemented.
