While Washington projects restraint and diplomatic engagement, the US military has completed operational preparations for renewed strikes against Iran. According to a report published overnight in the New York Times, the American defense establishment presented detailed attack plans, but the political echelon chose not to approve them at this time.

The Pentagon has drawn up high-value targets including the Islamic Republic's drone array, missile systems, and key energy and military infrastructure. Despite the plans being ready, President Donald Trump decided to halt military action for now, making clear on social media that he does not intend to act militarily before the midterm elections, while the countries are conducting direct talks.

The operational plan was presented at the highest level in a discussion held at Camp David, led by Vice President J.D. Vance. According to the report, it is a focused and intensive blow meant to last only about three days.

The targets marked in the plan include extensive strikes on weapons stockpiles rebuilt by the Revolutionary Guards since the previous round of fighting, alongside hits on command headquarters and regime power centers in Tehran.
