A chaotic scene unfolded in Kosovo's parliament when an opposition lawmaker threw eggs at the country's acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti during a contentious session.
The incident occurred after Kurti told parliament he needed additional time to hold talks with other parties before proposing a candidate for parliamentary speaker, following early elections held in the country last June.
Timi Kadriai, a member of parliament from the Alliance party, pulled eggs from a bag and threw them at Kurti while shouting "Shame, shame" in his direction.
Kosovo, a partially recognized state in the Balkan region, has been mired in political gridlock for nearly two years. Tensions over establishing governing institutions have persisted even after the most recent elections.
