A Kuwaiti-born man who tried to break into the Israeli Embassy in London armed with two knives was sentenced on Monday to life in prison, with a minimum term of 20 years.
Abdullah Albadri, 34, climbed onto a fence at the embassy in Kensington, west London, in April 2025, carrying two four-inch knives. Armed police tackled him before he could get into the grounds. He was wearing a keffiyeh wrapped around his head and sunglasses.
The Old Bailey heard that Albadri intended to "exact revenge" for the deaths of children in Gaza. Mrs Justice Lambert handed down the sentence. With time already spent on remand deducted, he will serve at least 18 years and 207 days before he can be considered for release.
Albadri was a failed asylum seeker. He entered Britain by small boat twice, in August 2021 and again in April 2025, the same month as the attempted attack, and his asylum claims were refused.
He showed no emotion in the dock as the sentence was read out, according to reports from the court.
No embassy staff were hurt in the incident.
