Gottlieb Clashes With Host Over Future

Heated exchange on Israeli TV as journalist Sharon Gal questions whether the outspoken lawmaker damages her party; Gotliv denies exploring other options

A television interview with Knesset member Tally Gotliv turned into an unusually contentious exchange on the Israeli current affairs program "7 with Sharon Gal" on i24NEWS. The charged conversation between host Sharon Gal and the Likud lawmaker centered on her standing within Israel's ruling party, internal party dynamics, and criticism directed at her political style.

Gal opened by confronting Gotliv with harsh assessments circulating in political circles: "There are those who claim you're an electoral liability to Likud, that you drive away voters and create antagonism."

"I'm an electoral asset that strengthens Likud"

Gotliv pushed back forcefully. "I accepted from the outset that fakes, lies and attacks would be deployed against me," she said during the broadcast.

She rejected Gal's analysis outright, arguing that her presence actually benefits the faction: "I'm an electoral asset that strengthens Likud and prevents right-wing votes from bleeding to other parties. I don't only work ahead of primaries, but work day-to-day for the public and the voters."

"They offered me to switch, but I'm loyal"

Tensions escalated when Gal pressed harder on questions about her political future and the possibility she might find herself off the party list, asking directly: "Aren't you exploring outside options? No contacts with Otzma Yehudit or other right-wing parties?"

Gotliv revealed that such moves had indeed been discussed behind the scenes, but clarified her position on the matter: "While I was offered to switch, I'm loyal to the Likud movement and have no intention of leaving."

Confrontation over backroom deals

In the interview's most tense segment, Gal challenged her parliamentary worldview, questioning how she expects to survive in the political system without alliances: "Politics is a game of connections and deals, you can't operate alone as a complete soloist and expect the machinery to embrace you."

Gottlieb rejected the approach of political gamesmanship, emphasizing that she prefers to operate only in the open: "I operate in a straightforward manner and without hidden deals."
