A 70-year-old man drowned at a Netanya beach Tuesday morning and was evacuated to hospital in critical condition while medics performed ongoing resuscitation efforts.
Around 9:30 a.m., emergency hotlines received a report of a man pulled from the water unconscious near Herzl Beach in Netanya.
Rescue forces arriving at the scene found the man unconscious, without pulse and not breathing. They immediately began resuscitation procedures including chest compressions and ventilation, then evacuated him to Laniado Hospital in the city in critical condition.
MDA emergency medics Maor Brantz and Yosef Friedman recounted: "We arrived at the location with 4x4 vehicles and saw the man lying on the shoreline unconscious, without pulse and not breathing. We were told he had been pulled from the water unconscious. We began performing resuscitation that included compressions, ventilation and administering medications, and evacuated him in an MDA intensive care ambulance to the hospital in critical condition while continuing to fight for his life."
United Hatzalah medic Yaakov Cohen reported: "Passersby who pulled him from the water told us he had drowned. With the assistance of an intensive care ambulance crew and additional medics, we performed resuscitation at the scene and then he was evacuated to hospital during ongoing resuscitation efforts and in critical condition."
