A massive cargo ship and a Chinese fishing vessel collided near the Singapore Strait in recent days in a dramatic incident captured on video and circulated online. The footage shows the cargo ship approaching the smaller craft from behind before slamming into it.
The vessel involved in the collision is the First Margaux, a Panama-flagged bulk carrier measuring approximately 229 meters in length with a deadweight tonnage of around 82,000 tons. Facing it was the Chinese fishing vessel Luqing Yuanyu 108, measuring just 49 meters in length.
According to vessel tracking data, both ships departed from anchorages in the Singapore area and entered the same westbound shipping lane leading toward the Malacca Strait. The region is considered one of the world's busiest maritime routes, with many commercial vessels passing through daily alongside smaller craft.
