Bnei Brak Rescue

Saved Mother Meets Her Rescuers

A pregnant woman collapsed at home in a medical emergency. Volunteer first responders arrived within minutes and performed life-saving treatment. Two months later, she and her baby daughter met the team who saved them.

Emotional meeting

An emotional reunion took place this week in Bnei Brak when a 24-year-old woman identified as M. brought her infant daughter to meet the volunteer emergency responders who saved both their lives two months earlier. The medical crisis occurred when M., who was in an advanced stage of pregnancy, suddenly lost consciousness at home following an acute medical event.

Family members who discovered her called emergency services immediately. Three volunteers from United Hatzalah, Benjamin Fishel, Avi Vilman, and Yoni Tzadok, arrived rapidly and began life-saving interventions. Their swift and professional treatment helped save both the young woman and her unborn child.

Eliyahu Lintof, a volunteer with United Hatzalah's psychotrauma unit, provided initial psychological support to family members.

Two months after the traumatic incident, the reunion brought M. and her family face-to-face with the first responders who had fought to save her life. The family expressed profound gratitude for the volunteers' rapid response, dedication, and determination during those crucial moments, and shared their deep emotion at meeting under such joyful circumstances.

M.'s father said emotionally: "Those were indescribable moments. We saw our beloved daughter hovering between life and death, and you fought for her with dedication and professionalism. Thanks to your quick response and the treatment you provided, we were blessed to receive her and our granddaughter as a gift. You were messengers from Heaven to save two souls, and we can never thank you enough. This meeting today is a deeply moving full circle for our entire family."

Benjamin Fishel, the medic who arrived first on scene, described the critical moments: "When I reached the apartment, I found M. unconscious and in serious condition. I understood this was a critical emergency and that every moment counted, so I immediately began life-saving procedures. Within a short time, additional volunteers joined me and together we continued working with determination and coordination."

Fishel added: "Throughout the treatment, we knew we were fighting not only for the mother's life, but also for the baby she was carrying. It's very moving to see her standing on her feet today and to know that the quick and professional response helped save their lives. These are the moments that remind us why we chose to volunteer and be available at all hours."

Efi Feldman, head of United Hatzalah's Bnei Brak branch, summarized the case: "As the city's largest medical organization, this case illustrates the tremendous importance and great responsibility of deploying volunteers throughout all the city's neighborhoods. The volunteers are located near incidents, arrive within minutes, and provide initial medical treatment even before the ambulance arrives."

Feldman emphasized: "In these kind of incidents where every second counts, speed, professionalism, and available medical equipment have life-saving significance. I'm proud of the volunteers who acted with professionalism, determination, and sensitivity, both in treating the young woman and in providing the necessary support to her family members. This moving reunion, where we get to see M. and her infant daughter after their lives were saved, is the moment that gives deep meaning to all our work."
