Prof. Kohn Eliya: Netanyahu responsible but only option

Professor Moshe Cohen Eliya addressed the upcoming elections on Thursday, weighing in on who qualifies as a "Bibist" and why he believes supporting the prime minister is the only rational choice.

"You can present political arguments against Netanyahu and in his favor," the professor wrote. He explained:

"Netanyahu bears responsibility for the conception of 'Hamas is an asset' and for funding Hamas. But he is not alone in this story. The entire political, security and media leadership of the Israeli mainstream was in the same story.

No one would have allowed Netanyahu to launch a preemptive operation either, and anyone who pretends otherwise is simply a liar. Consider that we needed a traumatic event like October 7 to launch such an operation, and even then there were those who tried to stop the war at nearly every junction.

And so, because everyone is responsible, some more (the generals who didn't wake the prime minister in the night) and some less, there is only one person who can lead Israel in the face of the first-order security challenges we are about to face. And it's not the unfocused Eisenkot, not the sweaty Bennett, and certainly not the fascist Yair Golan. In my humble opinion, and in the opinion of most citizens, it's Netanyahu.

Because he changed the disk after October 7, and we are seeing the results on the battlefield.

So the attempt to label anyone who exercises rational judgment under the circumstances as a 'Bibist' is an attempt to flee from genuine engagement with arguments. And the left has long forgotten what an argument is, because there is no thought in the left, and no depth. There is only hatred directed at the sociological groups that make up the political right, while labeling them 'Bibists' without presenting any serious reasoning or argument, because there simply isn't any. Blessing or curse: who is a Bibist?"
