Dozens of protesters gathered Monday morning near the IDF recruitment office at Tel HaShomer, blocking roadways in opposition to the conscription of ultra-Orthodox men into Israel's military. The demonstration led to confrontations with police forces at the scene.

Israeli police declared the gathering an "illegal demonstration" and said officers were working to disperse the protesters from the area.

The protest forced the closure of Yaakov Dori Road in Kiryat Ono in both directions, from Levi Eshkol Street to Shlomo HaMelech Street. Motorists were advised to use alternative routes and avoid the area.

In a statement, police said that "Israel Police and Border Police forces operating at the scene announced multiple times through loudspeakers that this is an illegal demonstration. However, those disrupting public order are ignoring the instructions and continuing to violate order, blocking the road and engaging in friction with officers."

The statement added: "Israel Police will continue to allow freedom of protest within the bounds of the law, but will not permit public disorder, violent disturbances, or any behavior that could endanger public safety."
