Syrian President al-Sharaa makes unannounced visit to Riyadh amid Saudi-Houthi conflict

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa traveled to Riyadh this week for an unannounced meeting with Crown Prince bin Salman as Saudi Arabia's campaign against the Houthis continues. His adviser Ahmed Zidan denied reports that Damascus is considering military aid or troop deployment to Yemen. However, two Syrian sources close to the government say otherwise. One source indicates any assistance would be symbolic, primarily to demonstrate Riyadh can build support for the campaign. The other says Syrian leadership would not oppose involvement if it helps achieve peace.
