The riots began during Chol HaMoed Sukkos around 03:00 in the morning in the area of Chaim Bar-Lev and Zacks streets. The disturbances started near the hillula of Rav Nachman of Breslov zt"l held by Rav Shalom Arush at the large sukkah at the Chut Shel Chesed institutions on Shmuel HaNavi Street in Jerusalem.

During the disturbance, according to police, hundreds of young rioters blocked roads, threw stones and objects at civilians and police forces operating in the area, caused damage to municipal vehicles, and even stole one of them before abandoning it. "Police forces, including Border Police fighters, acted to disperse them using means until control was achieved at the scene," police said.

During the disturbance, a Border Police officer was injured in the head as a result of a bottle being thrown, and was evacuated for medical treatment in light condition. Another person located by officers was evacuated in light condition after apparently being attacked by the rioters.

The rioters later arrived in the Damascus Gate area, where they confronted local residents, and police worked to disperse them. Police said a total of 11 suspects were arrested for disturbing the peace, vandalism and violent incidents, and they were transferred for questioning at the police station.

"This is serious conduct by lawbreakers who came with the intention of causing damage, committing acts of vandalism and attacking security forces and civilians," police said. "We will not tolerate violent riots and will act with all means to locate additional those involved and bring them and those arrested at the scene to justice."
