While President Trump himself has conspicuously avoided publicly endorsing Netanyahu for months ahead of Israel's upcoming elections, his team is reportedly working behind the scenes on a move designed to deliver Likud a dramatic victory image before voters head to the polls.
The American plan involves staging a ceremonial weapons handover in the Gaza Strip to U.S. forces before election day. In exchange, Israel's part of the arrangement—a partial territorial withdrawal—would be granted "on credit," to be implemented only after the ballots have been counted, Segal reports.
