Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has revealed an extraordinary behind-the-scenes moment from his visit to the White House last year.
Speaking with a journalist, Carney described how at the end of their meeting, President Donald Trump approached him and said, "I want to give you something very special."
Carney recounted that Trump then opened a box containing a large golden key. Responding to the gesture, Carney told Trump, "Wow, Mr. President, this is wonderful."
President Trump explained that "Yes, it's a key to the White House. You just bring it, they'll let you right in." Immediately afterward, the president added on the same topic, "But they might shoot you."
Carney concluded the story before his audience by saying, "And that pretty much sums up the relationship we have." The crowd in the hall burst into laughter at his remarks.
