The president, dressed in a navy suit and yellow tie, was seen waving to journalists on the tarmac, but it was his hair that captured attention—appearing considerably darker than the familiar blonde shade typically associated with him.
The altered appearance prompted widespread reaction online from journalists and critics alike. Journalist Aaron Rupar questioned on his X account, "What in the world is going on with Trump's hair?" while attorney George Conway wrote that "something needs to be done about his hair under the 25th Amendment." Another journalist added, "The hair???? If I hadn't pulled the photos from Getty Images myself, I wouldn't believe it."
Former Congressman Adam Kinzinger responded in capital letters, "You've got to be kidding me," while journalist Molly Jong-Fast noted that "Trump is now a brunette!" By contrast, author Anne Lamott wrote, "I love it. So young. Very Pierce Brosnan," and playwright Paul Rudnick quipped that "Trump told his stylist, 'I want to look like serial killer Rex Heuermann.'"
Just days earlier, the president had addressed various claims during a Rose Garden speech at the White House, stating, "For years I've had to endure people saying, 'He wears a wig.' I don't wear a wig." Nevertheless, discussion surrounding his hair has persisted for decades and made headlines last month as well, when he appeared in Las Vegas with fuller, lighter-colored hair.
At that earlier event, journalist Aaron Rupar had wondered, "Is Trump wearing a wig, or what the hell is going on here?" The official Democratic Party account posted an old photo with the caption, "This was Trump's hair less than 3 months ago." Adam Kinzinger also claimed at the time that "Trump has a hair weave!!"
