Turkey's defense minister has pledged to continue bolstering Syria's military capabilities, responding defiantly to recent Israeli airstrikes in northern Syria and a stern warning from Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz.
Earlier, Katz directed pointed remarks at Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his government, cautioning: "You are dragging Turkey into dangerous adventures in Syria." The Israeli minister also made clear that Israel would not permit any hostile force to establish itself along its borders.
Turkey's defense chief fired back quickly, declaring: "Our efforts and contributions to defend Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to achieve a stable and secure structure, will continue with determination. The world must stand swiftly against Israeli actions, which have turned invasions and sovereignty violations into routine matters. We will continue to assist in developing and advancing the Syrian military."
