U.S. proposes $200,000 fee on Spanish-flagged ships at American ports
The Federal Maritime Commission has proposed charging Spanish-flagged vessels $200,000 for each arrival at a U.S. port, along with potential restrictions on five categories of Spanish imports. The proposal concludes a nearly two-year investigation into Spain's denial of port and docking access to U.S.-flagged vessels, specifically Maersk ships enrolled in the U.S. Maritime Security Program, beginning in late 2024. The measures are not yet final.
