Explosions were reported in multiple locations, including Qeshm Island, the port city of Chabahar, Bandar Abbas, and the city of Konarak.
A senior American official confirmed that U.S. forces struck Iranian positions in areas adjacent to the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping lane connecting the Persian Gulf to the open ocean. The strikes were carried out in retaliation for recent Iranian attacks on commercial vessels transiting the strategic waterway. U.S. Central Command later issued a statement confirming that "American forces have begun striking targets belonging to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
The strikes follow recent attempted attacks by the Revolutionary Guard against commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz and against American fighters deployed to the region."
