The New York Police Department has issued a public safety notice for the annual Israel Day Parade taking place today along Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. Spectators and commuters in Midtown and the Upper East Side should expect significant road closures and traffic disruptions throughout the day, with conditions expected to return to normal around 7:00 PM.
Parade route
The parade runs along Fifth Avenue from 52nd Street to 74th Street. Fifth Avenue will be fully closed between 52nd and 78th Streets. Pedestrian crossings on Fifth Avenue are limited to 51st, 59th, and 79th Streets once the parade begins.
Road closures
Madison Avenue will be closed between 42nd and 57th Streets starting around 7:30 AM, with closures extending north of 57th Street from approximately 11:00 AM. Cross streets between 51st and 56th Streets (from Park to Seventh Avenue) and between 60th and 78th Streets (from Fifth to Lexington Avenue) will also be affected.
MTA buses will be rerouted to Second Avenue. Residents and visitors are strongly encouraged to use public transit and avoid the Midtown and Upper East Side area by car.
