The Peleg Yerushalmi faction is mobilizing for mass demonstrations across Israel today (Sunday) in response to an intensifying wave of arrests targeting yeshiva students who have refused military induction. The protests, scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM in the Jerusalem and Bnei Brak areas, come on the heels of a dramatic weekend that saw multiple arrests and confrontations between security forces and the Torah community.
HaGaon Rabbi Azriel Auerbach, leader of the Peleg Yerushalmi, issued a forceful directive calling on all members of the faction to participate in the demonstrations. "This is no time for silence," Rabbi Auerbach stated in his proclamation. "There is a double and redoubled obligation upon every ben Torah, wherever he may be, to protest the degradation of Torah and its students, against the criminal arrests and against military authorities and their collaborators from within and without."
