A senior Hamas leader, Razi Hamed, who was a target of the recent Israeli assassination attempt in Qatar, has publicly re-emerged and given a defiant interview to Al Jazeera. Hamed, a member of the organization’s "negotiation team," gave a detailed account of the strike, saying that he and other Hamas leaders were meeting to discuss a proposal from President Donald Trump when the attack occurred.

Hamed claims that approximately an hour into their meeting, they heard explosions. He attributes their survival to their experience in Gaza, which he says allowed them to quickly identify the attack as an Israeli assault and escape the building just in time. "The circumstances were terrifying," Hamed said. "The attack was powerful, the missiles fell without stopping, 11-12 missiles in less than a minute, but we were able to evade the treacherous assault against us and our sister Qatar."

In a direct message to the U.S., Hamed called the Americans "unreliable," stating they "never honour their word." He accused President Trump of being a "partner to the ongoing genocide," claiming that he had given the "approval to bomb in Qatar" while Hamas was discussing his peace proposal. Hamed also asserted that Israel is "out of control" and that its aggression targets not just Hamas but the "entire Islamic nation."

Hamed also addressed the issue of the hostages in Gaza, stating that Hamas is not afraid of Trump's threats and would not take orders on how to treat them. He claimed that Hamas is treating the hostages "according to our values and our religion" and that Netanyahu and his government are the ones killing them. Hamed's re-emergence, along with another targeted official, Taher al-Nunu, appears to be a clear message of defiance and resilience from the organization's leadership.
