As the Iranian regime struggles to maintain its grip on power amidst a historic popular uprising, its primary regional proxy, the Hezbollah terror organization, has officially entered the fray. In its first formal response to the events unfolding in Tehran, the Lebanese based group issued a statement of absolute support for the Islamic Republic. According to reports from Kan News, Hezbollah is working to bolster the regime’s narrative by claiming that the real voice of the country is found in the millions of people supposedly marching in favor of the government. The terror group characterized these counter protests as a unified stand against "American involvement in the internal affairs of Iran."

The rhetoric coming from Beirut mirrors the official line used by the Ayatollahs to delegitimize the genuine grievances of the Iranian people. Hezbollah has explicitly accused both Israel and the United States of being directly involved in inciting the anti government demonstrations. The organization claims that the massive crowds seen in viral videos are actually "small groups" of foreign agents who are "turning the protests into chaos and destruction." By framing the revolution as a manufactured crisis, Hezbollah hopes to provide political cover for the lethal force currently being used by Iranian security forces against unarmed civilians.

This message of solidarity is a clear attempt to preserve the "Axis of Resistance," the network of Iranian backed groups that includes Hezbollah and various terrorists in the region. The group’s leadership emphasized that they stand firmly behind the Iranian leadership against what they define as subversive foreign intervention. This defensive posture highlights the fear within the organization that a collapse of the regime in Tehran would result in the loss of their primary source of funding, weapons, and political legitimacy.

Despite the reality of hundreds of thousands of Iranians calling for the fall of the dictatorship, Hezbollah continues to insist that the unrest is a Zionist plot. The group’s statement claimed that the goal of the current war in the streets is to destabilize the region’s anti Israel front. As the situation in Iran remains volatile and the death toll continues to rise, Hezbollah’s vocal support serves as a reminder that the regime’s survival is a top priority for terror networks across the Middle East. For the people in the streets of Tehran and Mashhad, however, the group’s accusations only serve to reinforce the belief that their government is more concerned with its proxies than its own citizens.
