As the war against the Iranian regime and its regional proxies intensifies, a familiar threat is re-emerging from the south. Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, the leader of the Houthi movement in Yemen, has issued a stern declaration of support for the Iranian-led axis, including Lebanon and Palestine. In a public address, he stated that his forces are prepared at a high military level to respond to any new developments or escalations. With the Iranian regime currently reeling from precision strikes on its naval and nuclear assets, the Houthi leadership is attempting to project strength and unity, warning that they are ready for "any scenario" and calling on the Yemeni people to prepare for a broader mobilization.

All Options on the Table

The Houthi leader made it clear that his movement does not intend to remain on the sidelines as the war expands. He emphasized that the Houthis are militarily equipped and strategically positioned to influence the current state of affairs. "All options at the military level are on the table, we are ready for any scenario, and we call on our dear Yemeni people to be ready and vigilant," al-Houthi declared. This call for vigilance suggests that the group may be planning renewed attacks on maritime shipping lanes or long-range drone and missile strikes directed at Israeli territory, similar to those seen in earlier stages of the war.

Furthermore, al-Houthi expressed his unwavering solidarity with the leadership in Tehran, framing the Iranian military position as a form of "legitimate defense" of the Islamic nation. He argued that the actions taken by the Iranian regime are deserving of "appreciation and encouragement," despite the heavy losses the regime has sustained over the last twenty days of fighting. By aligning so closely with Tehran, the Houthis are reinforcing their role as a critical southern flank in the ongoing war against Israel and its allies.

Accusations Against Arab Nations

A significant portion of al-Houthi’s address was dedicated to criticizing other Arab and Muslim countries that have cooperated with the United States and Israel. He accused these nations of betrayal for allowing American forces to operate from bases on their soil. "Arab and Muslim countries allowed the Americans to attack from bases in their territory, and committed all kinds of crimes against the Iranian people," he claimed. This rhetoric is likely aimed at regional powers like Jordan, Saudi Arabia, or the UAE, which have been involved in intercepting Iranian projectiles or hosting Western military assets.

The Houthi leader’s comments indicate a growing frustration within the Iranian axis over the lack of universal Islamic support for their cause. By framing the American presence as a criminal enterprise against Iran, the Houthis are attempting to delegitimize the security cooperation that has successfully neutralized many Iranian threats during the war. As the Houthi movement calls for its followers to remain alert, the international community is watching the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden closely for any signs of renewed Houthi aggression that could further complicate the regional security landscape.
