Liberman: Netanyahu Has Failed to Win War on Any Front

Speaking Saturday on Channel 12’s “Meet the Press,” Liberman said Iran’s leadership cannot be trusted and accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of allowing US President Donald Trump to sideline Israel in negotiations with Tehran.

Yisrael Beytenu chairman Avigdor Liberman sharply criticized the emerging deal to end the Iran war, warning that any agreement leaving the ayatollah regime in power would be “a catastrophe” for Israel.

Speaking Saturday on Channel 12’s “Meet the Press,” Liberman said Iran’s leadership cannot be trusted and accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of allowing US President Donald Trump to sideline Israel in negotiations with Tehran.

“Any agreement from our point of view is a catastrophe, because any agreement leaves the ayatollahs in power,” Liberman said.

“There is a fanatical leadership there which says its supreme goal is to destroy Israel,” he added. “It doesn’t matter what agreement they sign. I don’t know any intelligence agency in the world that believes the Iranians.”

Liberman, a former defense minister, said he believes Iran will eventually develop nuclear weapons and claimed the emerging deal would unfreeze $110 billion in Iranian assets held abroad, while also allowing Tehran to freely sell oil and gas.

Asked about Trump’s handling of Netanyahu, Liberman said the US president was humiliating Israel “with Netanyahu’s blessing.”

“Netanyahu has turned Israel into a banana republic,” he said, adding that Israel can say “no” to an American president when its security interests require it.

Liberman did praise Trump for his role in securing the release of hostages from Gaza, saying that would not have happened without the US president.

He then turned his criticism back to Netanyahu, accusing him of failing to achieve a decisive victory in any of the arenas Israel has faced since the October 7 massacre.

“Someone who can’t win on any front in two and a half years will never win,” Liberman said.

He also condemned Netanyahu for failing to address the threat from explosive drones launched from Lebanon, which have killed and wounded soldiers and threatened northern communities in recent weeks.

“If he has time for social media clips, incitement videos, and doesn’t deal with the drones, soldiers are being killed, injured every day in Lebanon, and he is dealing with a military service evasion law, what are we talking about?” Liberman said.

He warned that if Israel does not defeat the drone threat in Lebanon, the danger will spread deeper into the country.

“If we do not win in Lebanon, explosive drones will end up in Tel Aviv, Caesarea and Haifa,” he said. “It won’t be long.”
