Hours after reports emerged of a new draft proposal to end the war, a senior Iranian official told Reuters on Wednesday that Qatar did not present them with a ceasefire draft with the United States, but only a series of proposals, which were rejected by Tehran.
"The only thing we received is a list of unacceptable ideas," the Iranian official said. "We will not compromise on the nuclear issue."
Earlier, reports indicated that Qatari mediators delivered a new proposal to Iran to end the war last Sunday, with Tehran claiming it would respond to the offer by the end of the week. According to the report, the new proposal set a seven-day timeline and addressed demands from both the United States and Iran. Implementation of the proposal could reportedly have begun as early as next week, with a series of countries prepared to serve as guarantors for the agreement.
