Camille Razat, known worldwide for her role in the hit Netflix series Emily in Paris, recently revealed that her participation in the show has had an unexpected negative impact on her acting career. In an exclusive interview with Israeli media outlet N12, the French actress opened up about how the series’ typecasting effect has made it harder for her to secure diverse roles.
Razat, who stars in the upcoming French film The Pianists, explained that while Emily in Paris brought her global recognition, it also pigeonholed her in the eyes of some directors and casting agents.
“It’s funny because it’s so specific, the world of Emily doesn’t necessarily open doors. Sometimes it even closes them. Even in France,” she said. She added, “There are directors or casting directors who say, ‘Oh, she’s from Emily in Paris? No, we won’t even consider her for a drama.’”
