Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff, creators of the hit series Fauda, received an award for exceptional contribution to the State of Israel and the Jewish people. The presentation took place before hundreds of Jewish community leaders from around the world who gathered for the Jewish Agency Board of Trustees meeting to develop strategic plans for strengthening the state.
The Israeli series, which streams on Netflix and has become an international phenomenon, depicts the events of Hamas's murderous terror attack on October 7 in its new fifth season.
The judges wrote in their citation: "In recognition and deep gratitude for your exceptional contribution to the State of Israel and the Jewish people. Thanks to you, our people and the entire world can know our story, connect to it, and take pride in it."
Jewish Agency Chairman Major General (res.) Doron Almog praised the creators and emphasized the importance of their work in this period: "In a reality where Israel and the Jewish people are required to fight not only for their security, but also for the truth and for the right to make their voices heard, the human story has tremendous power. Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff, through their courageous and authentic creation, succeed in bringing Israeli reality to millions of viewers around the world and strengthening the sense of belonging and pride that we so desperately need."
The Jewish Agency’s Board of Trustees meeting is the main leadership gathering of Diaspora Jewry. This year’s sessions focused on how Jewish communities around the world have rallied behind Israel on an unprecedented scale, and on national efforts to rebuild the north and south.
