The creators of Fauda are joining forces with the team behind the Israeli drama Alef on a new psychological thriller, working title "The Therapist," according to Israeli entertainment reports.
Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff will partner with Avraham Shalom Levi and Tamar Marom, two of Alef's creators. The series centers on a trauma therapist who works with Israel's security establishment and becomes entangled in a dangerous espionage affair.
According to the reports, Raz will produce the series and star in a central role. Shalom Levi will co-write and appear in the cast. Filming is planned abroad. The lead actress, who will play the therapist, has not yet been announced.
Trauma is familiar ground for both teams. Raz and Issacharoff rebuilt Fauda's fifth season after October 7, discarding scripts they had already written. "October 7 was a trauma for all of us in Israel," Raz told the Jewish Chronicle last month. "We started to write from our trauma." The season, now on Netflix, follows its characters through the aftermath of the massacre.
Shalom Levi has drawn on the same material in his own work. He wrote and performed "Zvika the Soldier," a one-man show inspired by his experience with PTSD after his combat service, and won Israeli Television Academy awards as showrunner and actor for the drama Unsilenced.
No network, streamer, or release date has been announced.
