Shin Bet chief: Firing of flare at Bibi's residence "dangerous escalation"

The Director of the Shin Bet said that the firing of flares at the Prime Minister's Residence in Caesaria was unacceptable and that every such case would be handled with "the utmost severity."

Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar issued an official statement today (Sunday) regarding the reported firing of flares at Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's residence in Caesarea, calling it a "dangerous escalation."

In his statement, Bar said that "the firing of flares towards the residence of the Prime Minister is a very serious incident which is far from a legitimate protest. It is a dangerous escalation."

He then explained his policy: "The Shin Bet is committed by virtue of its mission to protect the symbols of government of the State of Israel. Accordingly, we worked quickly with the Israel Police to locate and arrest those suspected of being involved in the event, with all the tools at our disposal."

Bar said that "we will not accept violent actions against symbols of government. Every incident will be handled with the utmost severity."
