Hypocrisy on Full Display
Watch: From Gaza to Ukraine: The Hypocrisy of Abbas and Putin Is Staggering
In Moscow, Mahmoud Abbas accused Israel of “genocide” while praising Putin’s pro-Hamas stance. Their alliance exposes hypocrisy, vilifying Israel while ignoring Hamas terror and Russia’s own brutality in Ukraine.

Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas unleashed a barrage of inflammatory accusations against Israel during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Abbas, whose support for Hamas’ terrorist agenda undermines any claim to moderation, labeled Israel’s defensive operations against Hamas as “genocide” and a “war of extermination,” falsely claiming the IDF deliberately targets Arab women and children. His rhetoric, steeped in anti-Israel vitriol, aligns with Hamas’ propaganda, conveniently ignoring the terrorist group’s role in initiating violence and using Gaza’s civilians as human shields.
Abbas praised the “historic relationship” between Palestinians and Russia, thanking Putin for Moscow’s pro-Palestinian stance. He endorsed Hamas’ demands for an immediate return to a ceasefire that collapsed earlier in 2025, calling for Israel’s complete withdrawal from Gaza and unrestricted humanitarian aid and fuel flow, demands that would embolden Hamas’ control. Abbas also condemned Israel’s counterterrorism efforts in Judea and Samaria as “ongoing aggression,” further revealing his bias against Israel’s right to self-defense.
Putin’s response was calculated, acknowledging Gaza’s “humanitarian crisis” without directly blaming Israel. He noted the failure of a prior ceasefire and highlighted Russia’s delivery of over 800 tons of aid, including food, medicine, and essentials, to Gaza. Yet, Putin’s posturing as a humanitarian champion rings hollow. While he postures as a Palestinian ally, Russia’s brutal war in Ukraine, marked by widespread destruction and civilian suffering, exposes his hypocrisy.
Abbas’ alignment with Hamas and Putin’s selective humanitarianism underscore a troubling double standard. While Abbas vilifies Israel, he ignores Hamas’ oppression of Palestinians, and Putin’s aid to Gaza contrasts starkly with his devastation of Ukraine, revealing both leaders’ self-serving agendas.
