Inside Operation Last Supper: The High-Stakes Mission to Kill the Architect of October 7

In a rare look behind the scenes of Israeli intelligence, officers have detailed the months of surveillance and precision tracking that led to the "Operation Last Supper" strike on the man who built the Hamas war machine.

Tracking a Ghost in the Crowd

Ra’ad Sa’ad was not just a bureaucrat, he was the driving force behind the technological "revolution" that allowed Hamas terrorists to breach the Gaza border. As the Head of the Weapons Production Headquarters, Sa'ad spent years developing the rockets, drones, and explosive devices used against Israeli civilians. Because of his seniority and role in the "Walls of Jericho" invasion plan, he knew he was a marked man.

Lieutenant M., who leads the Development Targets Department in the Intelligence Directorate, explained that Sa’ad was a master of evasion. "He would make sure to stay in motion," the officer noted. Sa’ad purposefully moved between hiding spots that offered him human shields, including mosques, hospitals, and densely populated civilian areas. He operated under the assumption that the IDF would hesitate to strike in such sensitive locations.

The Precise Strike: Operation Last Supper

The mission to eliminate Sa'ad, dubbed "Operation Last Supper," was the result of months of painstaking surveillance and data fusion. Lieutenant Y., head of the Enemy Activity Target Department, described the process as a slow build toward a fleeting moment of vulnerability. "Persistent intelligence gathering, close surveillance, and early preparation, until the window of opportunity opened," he said. When that window finally appeared, the IDF acted with what officers describe as one of the most precise strikes of the war.

Sa’ad was a member of the original Hamas general staff, making his removal a massive blow to the group’s structural integrity. Beyond his planning of the October 7 massacre, he was the primary individual responsible for the smuggling routes that kept the terror group supplied with advanced weaponry.

A Diminishing Capacity for Terror

The impact of Sa’ad’s death is already being felt across the Gaza Strip. Intelligence officers report that Hamas is currently operating out of desperation rather than strategic planning. Their ability to recover and rebuild their weapons manufacturing capability is steadily diminishing as the IDF targets the specialized engineers Sa'ad once led.

Despite the success of the mission, the intelligence community remains focused on the threats that remain. "The importance of the elimination is clear," Lieutenant Y. emphasized, noting that they could not allow Sa'ad to continue supplying tools of death. Lieutenant M. added a final warning to those still hiding in the tunnels of Gaza: "We know who's next in line. Each soldier and officer here understands the gravity of the mission; this elimination gives a sense of satisfaction, but there's still a long road ahead."
