Israel's Ben Gurion Airport claimed the unwanted top spot on Friday among the world's most disrupted airports, according to global flight tracking service Flightradar24. The airport received the maximum disruption score of 5.0 for both arrivals and departures.
The tracking site's disruption index ranges from 0 to 5, weighing factors including the number of delayed flights, average delay duration, and cancellations. While a score above 3.5 already indicates significant disruption, the maximum 5.0 rating points to extreme disruption levels, even when not every flight is cancelled or delayed.
Throughout the day, the airport continued announcing flight delays. Check-in areas in both Terminal 3 and Terminal 1 appeared less congested than the previous day, suggesting operations there had returned to normal, though that baseline was already strained before Thursday's chaos. However, the duty-free shopping areas and departure gates remained heavily crowded.
