Political Earthquake: Bennett and Lapid's "Breakaway" Deal Revealed

According to reports from Kan Reshet Bet, Bennett has guaranteed Lapid’s party 10 of the top 24 spots on the roster, a massive strategic windfall for Yesh Atid that defies recent downward polling trends.

In a significant reshuffle of the political deck, details have emerged regarding the merger between Yair Lapid and Naftali Bennett. According to a report by Michael Shemesh on Kan Reshet Bet, Bennett has committed to giving Lapid’s "Yesh Atid" party 10 out of the first 24 spots on their new joint list, titled "Beyachad" (Together).

This allocation is viewed as a major tactical victory for Lapid, as current polling had suggested a weakening trend for Yesh Atid. The agreement secures a larger legislative footprint for his party than independent polling currently predicts.

Beyond the raw numbers, the specific ratio of seats carries a crucial legal weight. By controlling more than one-third of the joint faction, Lapid has secured the legal right to split from the list immediately after the elections.

Reports indicate that this "exit strategy" was a non-negotiable demand from Lapid, ensuring that Yesh Atid maintains its independent identity and the ability to maneuver autonomously once the ballots are counted.

Room for Expansion: The Eisenkot Factor

While the 10-spot deal is the current baseline, the agreement remains fluid. Both leaders have reportedly left the door open for "adjustments" to accommodate potential new partners.

The main target is former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot. Should Eisenkot or other high-profile political figures join the "Together" alliance, the current distribution of seats will be renegotiated to integrate the newcomers.

This merger represents a calculated gamble to consolidate the center-right and center-left blocs under a single banner. By locking in a substantial presence and a legal path to independence, Lapid is hedging his bets, while Bennett gains the numerical strength needed to challenge the current coalition.
