Bennett Adds Major Youth Movement to Party List
The group, known as “Katef el Katef” (Shoulder to Shoulder), said in a joint statement that it sees Bennett’s platform as a natural fit for its priorities, particularly advocating for those who serve in the IDF and opposing policies it views as increasing the burden on that population.

A prominent youth organization representing Israelis who serve in the military announced Wednesday that it will align with former prime minister Naftali Bennett ahead of the next national elections, formally joining his “Bennett 2026” party.
The group, known as “Katef el Katef” (Shoulder to Shoulder), said in a joint statement that it sees Bennett’s platform as a natural fit for its priorities, particularly advocating for those who serve in the IDF and opposing policies it views as increasing the burden on that population.
“We will stand up for Israel’s young generation,” the organization said, adding that it believes Bennett has demonstrated the ability to address key national challenges and build a stronger future for younger Israelis. The group also endorsed his candidacy for prime minister.
Founded in 2024 during public debates over draft exemptions, Katef el Katef has mobilized tens of thousands of young Israelis around issues related to military service and civic responsibility. Its leadership, including founder Yonatan Shalev, has led campaigns against exemption policies and worked to expand public engagement on the issue.
As part of the political partnership, Shalev is expected to receive a prominent spot on Bennett’s party list and take on a leadership role within the movement.
Bennett welcomed the endorsement, praising the role of younger Israelis in recent national events and calling for their continued involvement in shaping the country’s future.
“On October 7, when Israel’s leadership collapsed, the younger generation rose up, fought, and saved the State of Israel,” he said. “Looking ahead, we need that same energy to rebuild.”
Shalev framed the move as a response to the current moment, saying the group aims to translate its activism into political influence.
“On behalf of our generation and in the name of the friends we lost in battle, we are stepping forward to bring about change,” he said, adding that the group intends to represent young Israelis “with honor and responsibility.”
