Tragedy in Bnei Brak: Eritrean Infant Dies at Daycare Center; Teacher Arrested
A 6-month-old infant died Tuesday after losing consciousness at a Bnei Brak daycare. Police have arrested the teacher as an investigation into the tragedy begins.

A police investigation has been launched following the death of a 6-month-old baby at a daycare center in Bnei Brak today (Tuesday). The teacher in charge of the facility has been taken into custody for questioning.
Medical teams from United Hatzalah were scrambled to the daycare, located on Menachem Begin Street, following reports of an unconscious child. According to responders, the infant, identified as the son of Eritrean asylum seekers, was found without a pulse and was not breathing.
"We performed prolonged resuscitation maneuvers at the scene," said United Hatzalah medics Aaron Lehrer, Eliya Halevi, and Meir Chashin. "The infant was evacuated in critical condition to Schneider Children's Medical Center in Petah Tikva while life-saving efforts continued."
Despite the exhaustive efforts of medical staff at the hospital, doctors were forced to pronounce the baby dead shortly after arrival.
The Israel Police arrived at the facility shortly after the incident to collect evidence and forensic findings. A spokesperson confirmed that the daycare teacher was arrested as part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the death.
The daycare primarily serves the local Eritrean community in Bnei Brak.
