Tragedy in Bnei Brak: 8-Year-Old Scooter Rider Struck by Minibus and Rushed to Trauma Ward

A series of grave traffic accidents occurred on Wednesday evening, leaving two young children in critical condition and sending shockwaves through the cities of Bnei Brak and Beit Shemesh. Emergency medical teams were scrambled to two separate scenes within a short timeframe, where they treated an 8-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy, both of whom suffered life-threatening head injuries after being struck by passing vehicles.

The first incident took place in Bnei Brak around 5:30 PM on Abarbanel Street. An 8-and-a-half-year-old boy was riding a scooter when he was hit with great force by a passing minibus. Medics from United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom (MDA) arrived quickly to find the child with significant trauma to his head. Michael Tzuri, Zadok Cohen, and Shmuel Schwartz, paramedics who provided initial care, noted that the accident involved a minibus and a child on a scooter who sustained a head injury. After receiving life-saving stabilization at the scene, including bandages and splinting, the boy was rushed to the trauma unit at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva.

Shortly after the tragedy in Bnei Brak, a second severe accident was reported on Yirmiyahu HaNavi Street in Beit Shemesh. A 10-year-old boy from a Haredi family was crossing the street when he was struck by a car. MDA emergency medic Sarah Chaya Shillman described the scene, stating that when they arrived, they noticed the boy lying on the sidewalk, unconscious but breathing. He suffered a head injury, and they immediately began medical treatment before evacuating him in serious and unstable condition.

Police investigators have arrived at both locations to determine the causes of these collisions. In Beit Shemesh, the Jerusalem District traffic examiners have officially opened an inquiry into the circumstances that led to the 10-year-old being hit. Officers remained at the scene to collect evidence and speak with witnesses. These incidents serve as a grim reminder of the dangers facing young pedestrians in crowded urban environments. Both children remain in intensive care as doctors work to stabilize their conditions, while their communities have gathered to offer prayers for their recovery during this difficult time.
