The arrest occurred during a confrontation in the field, where additional activists were present. After his release, Lander issued a formal statement in which he sharply attacked the security forces and Israel.

Far left New York congressional candidate Brad Lander was released with a warning by the Israel Defense Forces after deliberately travelling to Judea and Samaria to provoke Israeli security personnel and generate political hostility.

Following his brief detention, Lander exploited the incident on social media to attack the State of Israel and undermine military operations designed to maintain regional security. Lander claimed that dozens of participants remained in custody for harvesting activities, attempting to portray standard security enforcement as a campaign against local agriculture.

"Released from IDF detention with a warning, probably because of my public profile," Lander wrote, using the encounter to launch baseless accusations of state sponsored actions against the security forces.

Lander, who maintains close political ties to anti-Israel figures such as New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, has repeatedly targeted Israel with hostile rhetoric. During a recent address at a mosque, Lander falsely labeled Israel's anti-terror operations in Gaza and defensive actions in Lebanon as genocide, demonstrating a reliance on inflammatory buzzwords that highlight a profound lack of understanding regarding security realities in Israel and Judea and Samaria.

The incident reflects an ongoing strategy by foreign agitators who travel to sensitive boundary zones with the explicit goal of creating friction with IDF troops and maligning Israel on the international stage. Defense officials emphasized that security forces enforce law and order strictly along operational boundaries, regardless of the political profile or foreign status of individuals seeking to incite disorder.

"Our forces operate along security sectors to maintain order and prevent coordinated provocations designed to destabilize the area," security officials stated regarding foreign activist disruptions, as reported by REUTERS.

Israeli authorities continue to take a firm stand against coordinated attempts by foreign actors to weaponize boundary areas for political leverage and spread misrepresentations of military operations.
