Elderly Man Found Dead in Bnei Brak Apartment After Neighbors Report Odor

Volunteers from ZAKA, Israel's volunteer emergency response organization, were called to an apartment on Jabotinsky Street in Bnei Brak this afternoon following the discovery of a deceased man in his 70s. The body was found in an advanced state of decomposition.

According to Avraham Shtigel, a ZAKA team leader, and Moti Derei, a ZAKA volunteer who responded to the scene, neighbors had detected a strong odor coming from the apartment and contacted emergency services. "We're dealing with a man approximately 70 years old who was discovered in a state of decomposition by neighbors who smelled a sharp odor and called rescue forces," they explained.

The volunteers worked to ensure dignified treatment of the deceased and collected evidence at the scene. They also assisted investigators from Israel's Department of Identification and Forensic Science (DIFS), known locally as MAZAP, who conducted their examination at the location. The body was subsequently transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine for further procedures.
