A sophisticated foreign influence operation utilizing fake Haredi (Ultra-Orthodox) personas to incite violence against secular Israelis has been uncovered by the digital watchdog group "FakeReporter."

According to a detailed report released today (Monday), the network has spent the last six months infiltrating the social media platform X. By using convincing Hebrew and high-quality profile imagery, the accounts, operating under names like "Haim Alush" and "Yakov," aim to deepen the religious-secular divide within Israeli society.

Extreme Rhetoric and Tactics

The investigation highlighted several alarming posts from the bot network, including calls to "throw secular people out of Israel" and labeling left-wing citizens as "slaves of Satan." To build a facade of authenticity, the accounts used VPNs to mask their physical locations and frequently plagiarized posts from well-known Israeli influencers to blend into local political discourse.

Targeting National Resilience

FakeReporter CEO Nir Rosen warned that the operation is specifically designed to provoke a backlash against the actual Haredi community by making them appear responsible for the extremist rhetoric.

"This network is not operated by Israelis," Rosen stated. "The goal is to stir up hatred toward the Haredi public while damaging national resilience. This practice harms the entire Israeli public."

Election Concerns

The discovery comes at a sensitive time as Israel moves closer to an election cycle. Experts warn that foreign entities are increasingly using "digital masks" to manipulate public sentiment on hot-button issues such as the military draft and the judicial system.

Security officials and the Shin Bet have been urged to treat the network as a significant threat to the democratic process, with Rosen calling the report a "wake-up call" for both community leaders and national enforcement agencies.
