Split Gaza Strip

U.S. Paves Way for Division of Gaza Into Two Separate Entities

Despite Hamas’ refusal to disarm, Washington is advancing a phased plan that would split the Strip into “East Gaza” under international and Israeli-backed control, and “West Gaza” remaining under Hamas rule.

Gaza is reportedly on the path toward an unprecedented political and territorial division, according to emerging details of a U.S.-backed plan aimed at stabilizing the enclave. The initiative envisions splitting the Gaza Strip into two distinct entities, East Gaza and West Gaza, as part of the next phase of post-war restructuring.

Under the proposal, West Gaza, located beyond a designated “yellow line,” would remain under Hamas control. The area would receive only limited humanitarian aid and no large-scale reconstruction, effectively leaving it in its current devastated state.

East Gaza, encompassing regions on the opposite side of the demarcation line, would fall under Israeli security oversight with support from an international stabilization force that could include troops from countries such as Indonesia. This zone would undergo a full-scale reconstruction process, with residents from Hamas-controlled areas permitted to relocate there.

According to the plan, the “East Gaza State” would be divided into five administrative regions, beginning with a pilot reconstruction project in Rafah.

While the proposal remains highly contentious, especially amid Hamas’ ongoing refusal to dismantle its military wing, U.S. officials are reportedly determined to press ahead, viewing the split as a pragmatic step toward ensuring security, reconstruction, and gradual normalization in the region.
