The IDF announced Thursday that it killed a senior Hamas financial operative in Khan Yunis on Tuesday, dealing what security officials are calling a significant blow to the terror group's ability to fund and rebuild its military infrastructure.

Ihab Khrizm headed a central network responsible for transferring millions of dollars to Hamas's military wing. According to the IDF, he served as a key artery in the organization's financing apparatus, channeling funds designated for terror activity and weapons procurement. Security officials say his elimination directly disrupts Hamas's ongoing efforts to recover from the war.

In recent months, intelligence indicated that Khrizm had been blatantly violating the ceasefire agreement, enabling Hamas to plan and execute terror operations against IDF forces operating in Gaza and against Israeli civilians.

In a separate strike carried out at the same time, the IDF also killed Mohammad Al-Habbash, who headed a unit in Hamas's weapons production headquarters and played an active role in manufacturing arms for the organization throughout the war.

The twin killings are the latest in a sustained series of targeted strikes. In recent days the IDF also struck the commander of Hamas's Northern Gaza Brigade and the deputy commander of the Gaza Brigade. Just days ago, Mohammad Odeh, who had been appointed commander of Hamas's military wing only a week before he was killed, was eliminated in a precision airstrike in northern Gaza. Odeh had been one of the central architects of the October 7 massacre, and had previously served as head of the organization's military intelligence.

"IDF forces in the Southern Command are deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement, but continue to act with determination to remove any immediate threat to fighters and civilians," the IDF said in a statement. "Operational activity includes targeted strikes against senior commanders, destruction of weapons stockpiles, and prevention of attempts to rebuild terror infrastructure."
