The Trump administration is preparing to designate Palestine Action, a radical activist organization, as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) entity, according to a report in Britain's Telegraph newspaper. The move by the US Treasury and State departments represents a significant escalation in Washington's response to groups targeting Israeli interests.
The designation carries severe consequences: immediate freezing of all organizational and activist assets under American jurisdiction, a comprehensive ban preventing US citizens and entities from any financial or operational contact with the group, and secondary sanctions against international parties that provide assistance to the organization.
Palestine Action, which originated in Britain before expanding operations to the United States, has gained notoriety in recent years through what it calls "direct action" campaigns involving vandalism and break-ins at defense facilities. The group has particularly focused on sites belonging to companies licensed to supply equipment to Israel, with branches and factories of Elbit Systems, an Israeli defense contractor, serving as primary targets in both Britain and America.
Activists have broken into secured facilities, spray-painted expensive equipment with red paint, blocked production lines, and distributed social media videos encouraging criminal damage to defense infrastructure. These actions have reportedly caused millions of dollars in damages.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent emphasized the administration's determination to cut off support networks for extremist groups. "This is an organization that uses violence and damage to critical infrastructure under the guise of political protest," Washington officials stated. "The United States will not allow anarchist and extremist networks to operate on its soil or use its financial system."
