Gaza Residents Detail Hamas’s Reign of Terror

Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib, a Palestinian Arab-American activist, has published a detailed social media post revealing widespread human rights abuses perpetrated by the Hamas terror group against Gaza's civilian population. His findings are based on recent, extensive conversations with a diverse group of Gaza residents, including humanitarians, feminists, anti-Hamas activists, widows, divorced women, and members of the professional class.

Alkhatib noted that every person he spoke with confirmed the immense hardships they face following the devastating war. Conditions remain "virtually unlivable" even after the ceasefire, as residents struggle to rebuild their lives.

When Alkhatib asked why there hasn't been a mass anti-Hamas movement or large-scale uprisings, the answer was uniform: fear of brutal retaliation. According to his post, every person referenced the horror that Hamas unleashes against anyone with a platform who "dare speak out," confirming the group’s use of violence and intimidation to silence dissent.

The activist detailed specific, chilling allegations against the terror group’s methods of control. Alkhatib wrote that Hamas threatens opponents with “rods in their legs” if they speak out, and residents accused the organization of actively breaking the legs of opponents.

Perhaps most disturbing are the claims that Hamas uses civilian healthcare facilities as detention and interrogation centers. Residents accused the terror organization of kidnapping men, assaulting their relatives, and transporting detainees to al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, Al Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah, and Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. This systematic abuse of hospitals not only terrorizes the population but directly obstructs critical medical care, confirming Hamas's willingness to exploit civilian infrastructure for its terrorist aims.

Human Rights Hypocrisy

Alkhatib delivered a scathing critique of the international human rights establishment for its silence regarding Hamas’s atrocities. He wrote that “none of the international humanitarian or ‘human rights’ organizations have said anything about the horrendous human rights atrocities being committed by Hamas against the Palestinian people of Gaza.”

He argued that these organizations selectively focus on alleged violations only when Israel is the accused perpetrator, while deliberately ignoring similar or even worse actions carried out by the Iranian-backed terror group.

According to Alkhatib, this selective silence has "made a mockery" of genuine human rights activism and necessitates a fundamental reassessment of the field. He called for Hamas to be treated as a central and critical human rights concern, not merely in the context of Israel's defensive actions, but as a direct, existential threat to the civilian population it purports to represent.

Alkhatib concluded by criticizing the "blind obsession" with condemning Israel, which allows the "evils" of Hamas, an organization backed by the Muslim Brotherhood and financed by the Iranian regime, to continue unchecked. He urged international bodies, many of whom he believes have "fallen asleep at the wheel" since the ceasefire, to finally acknowledge the widespread abuses committed by the terror organization, which remains the principal obstacle to peace and freedom for the people of Gaza.
