Child Murder Suspect Captured Near Modi'in Illit After Fleeing PA Territory
IDF forces captured a Palestinian man near the city of Modi'in Illit last night after he allegedly murdered and burned his 12-year-old son near Ramallah. The suspect was apprehended after infiltrating Israel and has been handed back to Palestinian Authority security forces for prosecution.

In a dramatic overnight operation, IDF forces apprehended a Palestinian man suspected of murdering his 12-year-old son and burning his body before infiltrating Israeli territory. The capture occurred near the Haredi city of Modi'in Illit and the Hashmonaim checkpoint.
The incident began in the village of Beit Ur near Ramallah. According to reports from Kan News, the suspect, identified as Naim Ahmad al-Shami, allegedly took his minor son to an isolated agricultural area on the outskirts of the village. He is suspected of stabbing the boy to death and setting the body on fire in an open field.
Flight and Infiltration
Following the act, the father fled the scene, sparking a widespread manhunt by Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces. When they failed to locate him, an urgent report was transferred to Israeli security officials, raising alarms that a dangerous fugitive was at large near Israeli settlements.
Heightened security measures were implemented across the Benjamin Regional Brigade's sector. During the night, IDF soldiers spotted the suspect hiding just hundreds of meters from the residential areas of Modi'in Illit. He had successfully bypassed the Hashmonaim checkpoint before being detected.
Capture and Handover
The suspect was detained immediately. After an initial field interrogation, his identity was confirmed as the man wanted by the PA for the horrific murder committed hours earlier.
An IDF spokesperson told Kan News:
"IDF forces operating last night at the Hashmonaim checkpoint in the Benjamin Brigade sector detained a Palestinian suspect for questioning. An initial investigation at the checkpoint revealed that the suspect murdered his son in the Ramallah area and fled the scene. The suspect was transferred back to Palestinian security mechanisms for further investigation and processing."
The handover was conducted as part of the ongoing security coordination between Israel and the PA, as the crime took place within PA jurisdiction involving Palestinian citizens, despite the arrest occurring in an Israeli-controlled area.
