As the fighting in the Gaza Strip expands and tens of thousands of soldiers are being mobilized, Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir sent this extraordinary warning to Prime Minister Netanyahu and ministers, stating that they must take into account that a full ground maneuver could lead to the loss of the hostages.

According to a report by Moriah Asraf on Channel 13 News, Zamir made it clear to Netanyahu and ministers that "we must consider that we might lose the hostages." Zamir emphasized that "in a plan for a full ground operation, we won't necessarily reach the hostages."

The IDF announced last night that tens of thousands of reserve duty call-up orders will be sent starting this evening, in preparation for a significant expansion of the ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

According to a report by IDF Radio journalist Doron Kadosh, the orders being sent starting tonight will summon reservists to their units beginning the middle of next week, meaning in a few days.

It was also reported that many reservists will be sent to serve on the Lebanon border, in Syria, or in the West Bank, in order to free up regular forces who will be transferred to fight in Gaza.
