Yitzhak Elmakayis, a UK resident visiting Uman, was discovered lifeless in a wooded area near Rabbi Nachman's gravesite; authorities investigating circumstances

From the scene

A British father of seven who had been staying in Uman was found dead in a forest near the city, sparking a suspected homicide investigation. Yitzhak Elmakayis, approximately 45 years old and a resident of England, was discovered lifeless in a wooded area adjacent to the gravesite of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov.

United Hatzalah confirmed the discovery in a statement: "The body of a man around 45 years old was located lying in a forest near the tomb of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov in Uman."

Aharon Ben Harush, head of the United Hatzalah delegation and deputy chief of the organization's Uman branch, provided details following the holiday. "During the holiday period, we handled a case involving a person—a Jewish resident of England—who was found lying lifeless in the forest. The circumstances of the incident are under investigation," he said. "United Hatzalah activists in Uman are working with the authorities to secure the release of his body for burial as soon as possible."
