Israel's Chief Rabbi Kalman Meir Bar has issued a sharp and unusual appeal to senior IDF command, calling for the immediate cancellation of disciplinary proceedings against Givati Brigade soldiers who declined to participate in a mounted patrol that included a female soldier.

In his statement, Rabbi Bar criticized those who established the military's protocols on this matter, saying they are "distant from the Torah of Israel."
