‘The Pain Is Etched Deep’
IDF's Kfir Brigade Continues Gaza Operations Amid Heavy Clashes and Recent Casualty
The IDF’s Kfir Brigade persists in intense combat operations in Gaza, targeting Hamas infrastructure following the loss of a soldier. The brigade’s efforts focus on dismantling terror networks while honoring fallen comrades amid ongoing regional conflicts.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced today that the Kfir Brigade continues its intense combat operations in southern Khan Younis, Gaza, a day after Reserve Sergeant Major Noam Shemesh fell in battle. Addressing his Samson Battalion fighters, the battalion commander stated, “I see in you the pain for the fallen warriors, the grief etched deep, but also the spark in your eyes and the readiness to fight for our homeland.” Operating under the 36th Division, the brigade has been engaged in Operation Gideon’s Chariots, launched in May 2024, to dismantle Hamas infrastructure.
Since the operation began, Kfir Brigade forces have destroyed over 200 terror-related targets, including tunnel shafts, rocket launchers, and booby-trapped buildings. They have eliminated dozens of Hamas operatives through ground and airstrikes and uncovered numerous weapon caches, some hidden in former civilian structures like schools and homes. In a recent engagement, a Hamas cell fired an anti-tank missile at IDF troops. In a swift response, the brigade identified the attackers, killed three terrorists with tank fire, and later neutralized four more via an airstrike, demonstrating rapid coordination with the Israeli Air Force.
The brigade also raided terrorist strongholds, including a former university and school in Khan Younis, which were scanned and demolished to prevent future use by Hamas. These actions reflect Israel’s ongoing efforts to neutralize threats in Gaza, where Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack killed 1,200 and took 252 hostages, with 53 still in captivity, of whom at least 20 are believed alive. The Kfir Brigade’s operations aim to protect Israeli civilians from rocket attacks and tunnel incursions. The IDF remains committed to continuing its mission with full force to ensure national security, undeterred by the heavy toll of the conflict and regional escalations, including recent Iranian missile attacks.
